A Pair of Simeon Coley, George III Period, Silver Scissor Sugar Nips
Manufacturer - Attributed to Simeon Coley, London
Date - 1763
Description - A fine pair of cast silver sugar nips dating to the mid‑18th‑century George III period, displaying the elegant, sculptural quality characteristic of early English examples. The arms and shafts are formed in graceful C‑scrolls, giving the piece a lovely sense of movement, while the broad, tri‑lobed grips provide both visual balance and practical functionality.
The circular hinge cover is engraved with the monogram I ✶ B, a charming personal detail that adds a touch of social history without overwhelming the design.
A very good, well‑made pair of early sugar nips — tactile, decorative, and increasingly scarce in this quality.
