Description - A handsome and substantial pair of Victorian cast silver grape shears, richly decorated with intertwined vines, leaves, and clusters of grapes in beautifully detailed relief. The craftsmanship is crisp and expressive, making them a striking example of 19th‑century table silver.
From this period onward, grape shears were designed with a flanged blade, allowing a small branch of grapes to be neatly cut from the bunch, held securely, and then transferred gracefully to a serving plate. Pieces like this were an unmistakable sign of a host’s dedication to fine dining, refinement, and impeccable table etiquette.
Condition - This item is in good condition with only very minimal signs of use-related wear
Hallmark - There is a clear manufacturer's cypher for Yapp & Woodward but the Birmingham date cypher is indistinct
