Description - A rare pair of cast silver sugar nips dating to the early 1800s, firmly within the George III period and showcasing the crisp, confident workmanship characteristic of early English tongs. The design features a plain circular pivot cover secured with a silver rivet, a detail typical of quality London-made examples of this era. The simple, oval-shaped spoon grips are entirely consistent with early 19th‑century forms and remain wonderfully well-defined.
Condition - These tongs are in very good condition for its age and the sprung pivot hinge is in good order
Hallmark - The initials 'WB' and a 'Lion Passant' mark are present on the inside of both handles
