Description - A truly wonderful and fascinating Fiddle Pattern silver sifter spoon, originally intended for sprinkling spices over desserts, hot chocolate and hot toddies. It remains perfectly suited for modern use - ideal for finishing hot chocolates and cappuccinos with a delicate sifting of cocoa or cinnamon.
The finely modelled circular bowl is beautifully executed, its well proportioned and attractively arranged circular piercings enhancing both the aesthetic appeal and the practical effeciveness of the design.
What sets this example apart is the 'Tria Juncta in Uno' motto engraved to the terminal -'three joined in one', the union of England, Scotland and Ireland. This is the motto of the Order of the Bath, an honour bestowed by the monarch uoon senior military officers and civil servants in recognition of distinguished service. Although this heraldic device cannot by attributed to any specific individual, it adds a layer of historic resonance and prestige to the piece.
This is a high-quality, carefully crafted sifter spoon - full of charm, refinement, and the sort of detail that makes Gerorge III silver so endlessly desirable. A superb addition to any collection and a delight to use or display.
